stylish blogger award

I've been given an award! I'm so honored. Elizabeth from The Mustard Ceiling and Carrie from Hazardous Design honored me with the Stylish Blogger Award. Thanks ladies!

As the tradition goes, I have to share seven things about me that you may not know. (Coming up with this list was harder than I imagined.)

1. I am originally from South Africa. My family emigrated to the States when I was 5 years old, and we've been here ever since.

2. A couple of years ago, I had my own boutique Home Staging business. It was supposed to be a side-job while being a stay-at-home mom, but it turned out to be a bit more time-consuming. It was fun while it lasted, though.

3. I would love to have an etsy shop one day. (I just have to figure out what I would sell.)

4. We just bought an Airstream trailer!! (I plan on posting photos soon.)

5. This is one of my all-time favorite books.

6. I would love to learn about flower arranging.

7. My 20-year high school reunion is coming up this summer, and I haven't decided yet if I will go.

Now is the fun part. I get to pass the award on to several of my favorite bloggers. I'd like to share this award with

Happy reading everyone!

  1. Congrats on the award...AND the airstream!!! Oh boy, oh boy!!! Can't wait to hear about it!!!

  2. Wow an exciting! Can't wait about that!!

  3. I always love reading personal things about bloggers. It just makes them so much more real! Also, how fun you posted about a blog-award - I did too today! xo

  4. Yayyy, congrats. Love the 7 things about you.

  5. Too funny, I also have dreams of starting an Etsy shop, there's just nothing I can make better than anyone else! I learned how to knit, but I don't think a straight scarf shop would do very well...

  6. Your 7 things are so interesting! You'll have to let us know if you end up going to your high school reunion or not...

  7. Thanks so much for the shoutout. I'm totally JEALOUS that you got an Airstream. I've been trying to talk Ryan into one. Can't wait to see it.

  8. Are you going to read my blog knowing that I wear heels? :) I love everyone's differences. That's what makes blogs such inspiration.

And as for our daughters--they will have all the time in the world to be whoever they want to be. Right now is their golden time- childhood, and nothing better than to spend it as a tomboy. I was one too many moons ago :

  9. I love your 7 things, I did know about the Airstream :), I can't wait to see pictures!! I am so excited for you guys. South Africa, that is amazing. What happened to your home staging business? I did this in SC for a little while too before we moved to NM. Congratulations on your awards :) and Airstream.

  10. @ Shannon~
I already know what you're thinking about the Airstream. he he. Give me time to get up the nerve to drive it!!

  11. @ Laura~
We have been looking for a while...

  12. @ Gabriella~
I'm so glad you left a comment! It led me to your delightful blog. :)

  13. @ Giulia~
Thanks! I can't wait to read your 7 random things.

  14. @ Rebecca~
Hmmm...I'll let you know if I ever start that etsy shop!

  15. @ Carrie~
I'm kind of 'over' the whole reunion thing; however, I also don't want to regret skipping it. We'll see...

  16. @ Kim~
LOL about the Airstream. Actually, it was initially my husband's idea to get a trailer. I was JOKING and told him to "make that trailer an Airstream, and you've got yourself a deal." He totally went for it! :)

  17. @ NK~
I'm impressed by ANYONE who wears heals all the time. I'm too wimpy. ;)

  18. @ elizabeth~
The Home Staging business just took too much out of me, and too much time away from my family. It wasn't 'fun' anymore. I basically (slowly) sold off all my staging items, including a lot of furniture that I had acquired.

  19. Karen!!!!! You sweet thing! I can't wait to write and link back to you! I am honored! Thank you so much!

  20. my 20 year reunion was last year and i chose not to go and have no regrets. like you, i was just over it.
congrats on the award! and the house is looking sweet! i didn't realized the upstairs was getting so much done too. it's going to be amazing!
